Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Microsoft Excel has a range of functions that can be utilised for the analysis and presentation of experimental results. This text provides a straightforward introduction to these tools directed specifically toward their use in technical subjects.

It begins with a basic introduction to spreadsheets in general and Microsoft Excel in particular, before discussing formulas, charts, curve-fitting, equation solving, macros, statistical functions, logic functions, differentiation, integration and many other associated functions. Two chapters on modelling are also incorporated bringing all the material together to show how Excel can be used to model an entire system. It rounds up with a chapter on report writing, providing valuable instruction on the best way to present results in a formal report.

Written specifically for scientists and engineers this is a book that will be refered to again and again, providing invaluable information on the more technical functions of Microsoft Excel in an accessible and user friendly style.

* Written specifically for scientists and engineers

* Includes chapters on modelling and reporting

* Written clearly and concisely, by an author with a proven track-record in this area

* Includes a broad range of illustrations, including screenshots

* Can be used with any version of Excel, from Excel 5 to Excel 2000

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Expensive for this price.   October 17, 2002

While it would be useful for begineers, I find most of the concepts are raher short and simply presented. I think the amount of information given does not worth to that price. Especially, section regarding writting macros and prograaming are very limited and mostly in psude-code style which doesn't help you gain the experience of excel preograaming.

5 out of 5 stars Practical use of spreadsheets   June 13, 2001

Very helpful examples and good focus on fomulas, equation solving and statistical functions. Report writing section was useful as well.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but overpriced   October 21, 1999

Liengme's guide to Excel is clearly written, has good illustrations, and contains a variety of useful examples. However, I don't know where they get $40 for this thin paperback. Orvis' Excel book is more complete and a better value.

4 out of 5 stars An excellent source of information.   November 12, 1998

Finally someone has written a very clear concise book explaining Excel in terms that are relevant to scientists and Engineers. For the Engineer who is forced to program in Excel this book is an excellent source of information.
